Plan a Month of Social Media Content Quickly With the JIV Method

When it comes to laying out your social media calendar for the month, do you find yourself all of a sudden hitting a blank on what should be included? Maybe it’s taking you tons of time to consider whether you’ve included too many sales posts and not enough storytelling or content that adds value.

Once you have a strong grasp of your audiences and how they best receive information, you can use the JIV Method to quickly and efficiently lay out a month’s worth of content.

Try the JIV Method the next time you’re planning out your social media content calendar.

J – Journey
I – Impress
V – Value Add

Journey (accounts for 30% of your monthly content)

Take your audience on a journey of how your business began, what the backend looks like and what you’re doing today. This gives them an opportunity to begin to know your brand on a personal level, while building trust in you and the services or products you offer. Some examples of content to include:

  • Behind the Scenes of your day-to-day operations or a specific process

  • How you first got started

  • What your business looked like at the start versus now

  • Lessons learned along your journey

  • If you could start again, what would you change

  • Business milestones past and current to share

  • Throwback posts

Impress (accounts for 30% of your monthly content)

Any successes, no matter how big or small, matter and represent the progress your business continues to make. By sharing business successes and milestones with your audiences, you’re building a sense of community and further credibility. When you share your timeline of achievements, your audience feels like they’re a part of your community and get to celebrate those milestones with you. You build credibility as they can clearly see you’re thriving as a business and continuing to excel through your wins. Some examples of content to include:

  • Milestones you’re hitting with gratitude for those that helped you get there or have been following the journey

  • Hitting your highest number of sales dollars, states sold to, subscribers, etc.

  • Features of your story in the media

  • Anniversaries

  • Hiring Announcements

  • Events that you host or are a speaker or guest at

Value Add (accounts for 30% of your monthly content)

A big part of business growth is knowing that you are knowledgeable about the industry your product or service is in to build trust with current and future consumers. Share content around industry knowledge you have to support your product or service. Some examples of content include:

  • How-to guides and tutorials

  • Tips and tricks on industry leading topics

  • Case studies

  • Resource lists

  • Answers to frequently asked questions

  • How to use the product for product-based businesses or what the process is for service-based businesses

  • Industry news and updates

You’ll notice that these three content categories add up to 90%. The remaining 10% of your monthly content can be posts that are hard selling your product or service. By utilizing these elements into your content strategy, you’re sure to get closer to your business goals and objectives.

Now that you have all of the elements, you can use my free social media content calendar template to lay out your content in a simple, easy to implement format. Download your free guide now by entering your information below.
